Building a Sustainable Future

The European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD)

The European Parliament voted yesterday for a 2019 deadline on the proposal that all new houses, offices and shops built in the EU would be required to produce the same amount of energy that they consume. The deadline for public buildings would be 2016. The vote, revising a law aiming at improving energy performance in buildings, needs to be confirmed by the Council of Ministers later this year.

In Europe, buildings consume 40 percent of the total energy, and are linked to 36 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions. So it’s hightime for our policy makers to take action in reducing these unnecessary emissions. Especially when Climate Solver-like technologies exist already today that can radically reduce those emissions!
