Energy poverty is a critical issue for 1.2 billion people in remote communities around the world. To meet basic needs – cooking, lighting – kerosene and diesel are commonly used. Both of which are moreexpensive and hazardous to both health and the environment. Consider this: According to the World Health Organization, 4.3 million people each year die prematurely from illness attributable to the household air pollution caused by the inefficient use of solid fuels for cooking.
TRINE’s business model leverages environmental benefits to a maximum. How? By replacing dirty kerosene and diesel generators with environmentally sound photovoltaic solutions in regions with high solar yields. And if the model gains widespread adoption to 15% of the target group, it has the potential to deliver energy access to 48 million people and save 3.7 million tons of CO2 emissions annually by the year 2026.
TRINE’s first pilot project involved a mini-grid installation in Sidonge, Kenya. Mini-grids are modular solutions that make installation easier and more cost effective. To date, TRINE has signed contracts for projects in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. With a large pipeline of solar entrepreneurs in emerging markets teed up for future consideration.
TRINE was founded by Sam Manaberi (CEO), Andreas Lehner (COO), Christian Genne (CTO) and Christoffer Falsén (CFO). Since the start 2015 the team has expanded: Hanna Lindquist (Customer Growth & Communications), Peter Edström (UX Designer), Niclas Sahlin (Front End-developer.)
"With as low as €25 you can literally save the world. By allowing everybody to invest in solar, TRINE enables people to be climate solvers in their everyday life. Because doing good should be easy and rewarding.” Sam Manaberi, Founder & CEO, Contact +46 76 191 53 28
