The raw materials of the traditional pipeline are made of non-renewable resources, such as petrochemical or ore, and the energy consumption of the production process is very high. Bamboo Winding Pipelines offers a solution with low cost and low energy consumption by innovatively utilizing the renewable bamboo resources. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing and most powerful plants in the world. Bamboo can be fully matured in 3 years, becoming a forest after one-time cultivation, and highly renewable after felling. There are about 22 million hectares of bamboo in the world. China takes up 1/3, as the country with most abundant bamboo resources.
Bamboo Winding Pipelines use bamboo as reinforced materials, processing the thin-walled and hollow bamboo into a continuous strip of sheet material. Bamboo winding pipe owns the advantage of high compression strength, anti-corrosion, outstanding electricity & thermal insulation performance, low cost, etc., and it meets the security evaluation criteria of distribution equipment for drinking water. It can replace most of welded steel pipe, PE pipe, prestressed steel tube concrete pipe and other traditional pipes in the market, widely applied to the municipal water supply and drainage pipe network, irrigation and other water transport areas, thus significantly reducing the use of plastic, steel, cement, etc. Beside pressure pipelines, Bamboo winding pipelines can also be used to make pipe racks and large storage tanks.
The energy consumption in whole production process of a unit length of bamboo winding pipelines only amounts to 1/4 of the welded steel pipe and 1/3 of the polyethylene pipe. Globally, if 20% of the welded steel pipe and 10% of the polyethylene pipe could be replaced by 2025, 63 million tons of CO2 emissions will be avoided annually.
This technology has been awarded as advanced Practical Technology in Water Conservancy Industry and included in Promotion List of National Construction Industry Science and Technology Achievements. It is also listed in List of Key Low Carbon Technology for Deployment (second batch), laying the foundation for large-scale promotion. At present, Zhejiang Xinzhou adopts the mode of technology export and brand management to accelerate the progress of industrialization promotion. The total production capacity is planned to reach 10 million tons in 2020.
Mr. Ye Ling, the chairman of the company and the inventor of the technology, has nearly 45 years of experience in R&D and management in non-metallic materials field.
